(CÁCERES…The skin of the grassland, the skin of Extremadura.
“….The green tinted horizon as far as the eye can see, gets ready to undress. Ancestral recreation artisans will remove the skin from the woods. What in other trees does not go beyond a millimeter, in the cork oak can reach 25 centimeters; the rind is converted in cork. Hence the name for its annual harvest: The Cork Harvest. The material used to keep the juice from grapes, magically fermented and discovered by the friar Dom Pèrignon….”
The cork is proposed as the native material, representative of Extremadura. A sculpture in the shape of letters plated by an exterior metallic structure which will represent the most characteristic values of Caceres and its region. Everyone knows about the multiple uses of this material in any industry, but and with the support of IPROCOR (Cork, Wood and Vegetable Carbon Institute) it is decided to use this material as the surrounding skin of our proposal, complying rigorously with functional and aesthetical aspects. We will create a symbol of our past, present and future culture; our grassland, our wine, our ham, our crafts, our industry, etc. We will transmit a signal of identity as natural and noble as cork, and embraced by the Caceres community)
